Brightening the future for autism with Son-Rise

By Eamonn Lavery

Just like most other seven-year-olds, all little Ben wants to do all day is play. Unlike most other seven-year-olds, though, Ben actually does, as part of a revolutionary educational therapy, the Son-Rise Program.

Son-Rise focuses on the positives of where a child is at any point in time, and tries to build useful and effective communication through a series of intensive one-to-one play sessions every day. Through the program, and especially with the incredible dedication of his mother, Ben is making huge strides towards effective communication, and most importantly, happiness.

Unfortunately, though the Son-Rise program is a recognised therapy for autism, Sarah has not been able to secure any funding from the Liverpool Council for her son's home based education, and relies heavily on fund-raising and the generosity and dedication of a team of volunteers.
