All Together Now: The Football Quarter
By Simon EllisJonesA MULTI-MILLION pound Football Quarter linking Liverpool and Everton FC is a realistic aim, according to MPs and council leaders.
Supporters from the Red and Blue sides of Merseyside have launched their vision for the 40-acre zone in Stanley Park, Anfield.
The ambitious scheme, which includes a ?fanzone? venue, football museum, hotels, bars and restaurants also promises pedestrian links between Anfield and Goodison Park and improved rail and bus links to Walton.
Plans for the Football Quarter, set out in a 28-page prospectus, also include a possible park-and-ride link between Walton and the city centre.
The project is the brainchild of campaigners from fans? groups Keep Everton In Our City (Keioc) and Spirit Of Shankly (SOS).
But the key factor remains investment from the private sector and the involvement of the two clubs - both of whom are cautiously welcoming the plans.
