Lord Mayor tours businesses affected by riots, but too late?
By Eamonn LaveryThe Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Frank Prendergast, visited the areas of Liverpool worst affected during the riots in August. He met entrepreneurs from the area, and found out how their businesses had successfully recovered in the 3 months since, lending his support to help build confidence.
Bay TV spoke to local businessman Marwan Sabber, proprietor of Pound and Plus on Lodge Lane, who extended his gratitude to the Mayor and the council, but questioned whether their visit couldn't have been earlier, and their response to the riots more supportive.
We put Marwan's concerns to the Mayor, who assured us that the council did everything within their power as early as possible to help those affected by the disturbances.
