Serving liquor in pubs all night is prohibited in Indian society: Court

Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has dismissed separate petitions challenging Haryana’s excise policy. On the demand for permission to sell liquor all night, the division bench of Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Sanjay Vashisht said that if people are allowed to stay in bars and pubs all night, then it spoils the fabric of Indian society. Excessive use of alcohol and night life are considered taboo in Indian society. They are not discouraging night clubs, but those making the excise policy will have to keep Indian culture in mind as well.
