Till a few years ago, Canada was an open and liberal country. But for the past few years, the country’s politics has been surrounded by controversies. The rule of Justin Trudeau, who became the Prime Minister for the first time in 2015, is heading towards an unpleasant end. His popularity is continuously decreasing in election surveys. Elections are due in Canada within a year. Before that, the ruling Liberal Party can remove him from the post. The Liberal Party has been in power for 92 years out of the last 128. When Trudeau was elected for the first time, he had a modern vision. In the beginning, there were many successes, welfare decisions were taken. Trade treaties were made with America and Mexico.
They have not been able to solve Canada’s biggest challenges. Just look at immigration. Last year, the country’s population has grown at the fastest rate (16%) since 1957 due to the influx of foreigners. Trudeau thinks that opening the country’s doors to foreigners will make Canada’s image more liberal. But, facilities like health, education, housing have not been provided to the people according to the increasing population. Due to this, 44% Canadians believe that immigration is happening too much. The biggest reason for people’s anger is the lack of houses in cities. Due to this, property prices have increased. Housing loans have also increased. According to an estimate, Canada needs 33% more houses. There is a lot of opposition to ‘carbon emission tax’. The income received from the tax has not been used properly. Canada is lagging behind in military preparedness. It spends a large part of its GDP on the army.
